Charity Trustees’ Week goes virtual for 2020
Charity Trustees’ Week 2020 kicks off today and for the first time it’s all virtual! This week is a great big THANK YOU to the 73,000 charity trustees across Ireland for the important and tireless work they carry out throughout the year. Charity trustees are the people responsible for leading and managing charities and include members of the board of management or governing committee and company directors of charities.
The steering committee for Charity Trustees’ Week is made up of eight organisations: Charities Regulator, Boardmatch Ireland, Carmichael, The Wheel, Volunteer Ireland, Charities Institute Ireland, Pobal and Dóchas. With all of our events online for this year’s program, charity trustees can take part from the comfort of their home or office.
Commenting on Charity Trustees’ Week 2020, Helen Martin, Chief Executive of the Charities Regulator said, “Charities Trustees’ Week is an important event in our calendar. Every year it provides an opportunity to highlight the excellent and often unseen work of charity trustees and encourages new people to consider volunteering opportunities. This year has been particularly challenging for the sector which makes Charity Trustees’ Week all the more important with planned events providing charity trustees with an opportunity to link in with their peers and share experiences and knowledge as the sector works its way through current difficulties.”
Each day this week will begin with a virtual coffee morning so charity trustees can check in with colleagues from the sector for a chat before the day’s webinars and events begin. Charity trustees can attend a variety of events listed on the Charity Trustees’ Week website. Each of the eight members of the steering committee will be hosting their own events which are focused on charity trustees and the valuable work that they do.
