Ireland's 8th annual Charity Trustees' Week features a range of free events celebrating the commitment of over 76,000 volunteers who oversee the operations of the country's more than 11,500 registered charities. These volunteers, known as charity trustees, include directors, board members, and committee members.
Organised in collaboration with Boardmatch Ireland, Carmichael, Charities Institute Ireland, the Charities Regulator, Dóchas, Pobal, Volunteer Ireland, and The Wheel, the week's line-up offers something for trustees of all types of charities. With most events held online, participation is made easy for trustees, regardless of location.
In addition to celebrating the dedicated work of charity trustees, the week aims to offer insights and support to help them in their roles. Members of the public interested in learning about the role of charity trustees and how to get involved themselves are also welcome to attend.
Madeleine Delaney, Chief Executive of the Charities Regulator, stated "Trustees are essential to building and maintaining public trust in the charity sector. This week of events is a well-earned thank you to them for the important contributions they make to the governance and leadership of Ireland's charities. It’s also an opportunity for them to get up-to-date guidance, and support through a host of free events."
